CarbonCredEx was established in 1998 to focus the emerging climate change phenomenon on the underlying causes of the problem by careful consideration of the principles of sustainability and methods of applying those principles in an economically viable manner.

In 2000, CarbonCredEx established the web portal [venue] to;

• Exchange carbon credits between Emitters, Reducers, Investors and Biomass Producers
• Co-ordinate the sale of carbon credits [Emission reductions]
• Certify & Guarantee the existence of the carbon credits [Emission Reductions]
• Identify Emitters and Reducers
• Assist Producers [Growers] to develop biomass projects
• Develop Clean Development Mechanism [CDM] and Joint Implementation [JI] products and projects

Later that year, CarbonCredEx developed an online directory to

• Identify Carbon Credit and GHG related Buyers & Sellers
• Locate World-wide Plantations and Forests for Sale
• Locate World-wide Land [suitable for revegetation projects] for Sale
• Locate World-wide Climate Change related Products and Services
• Provide a World-wide Directory of Certified, Verified or Voluntary Emission Reductions
